Eri Silk Weaving

Genre: Documentary, 2024
Role: Photographer, Videographer, Editor
Tools: Sony ZV-E10, Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve
Team Project (NIFT Shillong)

This documentary project explored the craft of Eri-Silk Weaving in Ri-Bhoi Meghalaya, focusing on the artisans, their

techniques, and the cultural and sustainable significance of this unique fiber. It involved photography, videography,

and design integration into a documentary film and a visual publication.

Working on-site in rural Meghalaya was both inspiring and unpredictable. Shooting in natural, low light environments and

capturing the artisans in motion tested my adaptability. Managing sound, light, and framing amidst dynamic surroundings

demanded spontaneity and awareness.

This project grounded my understanding of documentary style storytelling, balancing authenticity with visual aesthetics. It

also strengthened my observation skills and empathy toward cultural subjects, teaching me that visual communication isn’t just

about beauty, it’s about preserving narratives that matter.
